To meet the growing demand for a world-class aquatic facility in Idaho’s Treasure Valley, stakeholders sought an innovative solution that could be delivered quickly and cost-effectively despite supply chain challenges.

After comparing a conventional steel design to a Sprung tensioned membrane structure, and visiting Sprung’s successful pool facility in Utah, the team selected Sprung for its bright interior, tall peak height, daylight panels, and striking design flexibility.Opened in June 2023, the Idaho Central Aquatic Center (ICAC) now stands as one of the largest competitive indoor aquatic centers in the western United States.

The 120’ × 315’ (36.6 m × 96 m) fully insulated facility features daylight panels, a custom glazing wall, and a mosaic-pattern membrane. Inside, two Myrtha Pools (50 m and 25 m) and 1,000+ spectator seats create an elite environment for training and competition. Designed collaboratively with architects and stakeholders, the ICAC embodies its mission to enrich the community’s quality of life through water sports, fitness, and recreation.
