During the two-year replacement of the Gibbons Dining Hall—originally built in 1964—James Madison University (JMU) needed a temporary dining facility to maintain full food service operations for its students.
Sprung delivered a fully insulated 30.5 m × 59.4 m (100’ × 195’) structure in under six months. Known as D-Hub, the bright, open-concept facility featured clear-span designtranslucent daylight panels, and glazing walls along much of its perimeter. Seamlessly connected to modular kitchen units from Kitchens to Go, it provided both indoor and outdoor dining, as well as convenient “to-go” windows. Thanks to its adaptable design and leasing flexibility, JMU later repurposed the structure twice—first for retail dining and later as a multi-use event and presentation space.
