At New York City’s Ground Zero, there was an urgent need for multiple structures to support disaster relief operations.
With winter fast approaching, it was critical that the facilities be delivered and erected quickly, offering heating, climate control, ample space, and a bright environment for recovery workers.Sprung responded rapidly by delivering several structures, the largest being a high-performance 31,000-square-foot (≈2,880 m²) tensioned membrane facility. Measuring 36.6 m wide × 79.2 m long, this expansive structure—affectionately nicknamed the “Taj Mahal”— provided space for food services, rest areas, showers, laboratories, training zones, and meetings, protecting emergency responders from the harsh elements throughout the long recovery period.
